  Dionysian Naturalism and Liberation Theologies:  A Framework for Ecological and Social Transformation Wayne Martin Mellinger, Ph.D. [THIS IS A PRELIMINARY DRAFT] Abstract Dionysian Naturalism (DN) emerges as a radical framework for ecological and social liberation, synthesizing ancient Dionysian spirituality with contemporary liberation theologies. This paper examines how DN's emphasis on sacred nature, communal transformation, systemic justice, and the critique of neoliberal capitalism complements and extends liberation theology's focus on praxis and social transformation. Through analysis of historical Dionysian practices, modern liberation movements, ecological consciousness, and intersectionality, we demonstrate how this synthesis offers unique insights for addressing contemporary crises of environmental degradation, social inequality, and spiritual alienation.
